TOO MANY WRONGS

Too many wrongs
will make a right;
I found just lying there
one black unholy night.

It was so ugly
it was a beautiful sight.
So I made it my right
to honor those wrongs,
and make it my fight
to gather all those wrongs
and give them last rights.

There's not a cloud in sight.
The moon has the right
to stay up all night.

as the world falls apart
around us
earth tires of us
and mail carriers
make their rounds
around us
and children play
on merry-go-rounds
never thinking
and old writers free verse it
into history pages
and the cockroaches wait
to clean up after us
